The senior citizens group of Adeje enjoyed a whale and dolphin watching excursion on the coasts of our municipality. On a sunny morning with a calm sea, they were able to see pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins, among other species of cetaceans, being able to experience for themselves the great natural wealth of our coast.
It is estimated that Costa Adeje receives about 600,000 tourists each year who go whale and dolphin watching, this being one of the main attractions for our visitors, since Tenerife is considered one of the best places in the world for this type of activity. Up to 21 different species of cetaceans live in the waters of Tenerife, of which 8 are species of dolphins and 13 are species of whales. From the bottlenose dolphin, characteristic for its grayish color, to imposing pilot whales of five meters in length.
The excursion was done with Freebird Catamarans, a company with more than 20 years of experience in whale and dolphin watching excursions, based in Puerto Colón. The guide, specialized in cetaceans, informed the group of 50 adults of Adeje about the customs, feeding and migrations of the whales and dolphins that we encountered during the excursion.
This excursion was done within the agenda of activities programmed by the Senior Area of the Department of Social Welfare and Attention to Diversity of the City of Adeje, in collaboration with the company Freebird Catamarans.
