Foreign placement students participate in conservation of cetaceans in Tenerife

On 11th of march, Freebird Catamaran company had organised, an open day was held regarding the responsible sighting and conservation of whales and dolphins in Tenerife.

These training programs are the effects of the collaboration between the World Cetacean Alliance, the most important NGO in the world dedicated to the protection of cetaceans, and Freebird Catamaran company, a whale and dolphin watching excursion company in Tenerife. We had a pleasure to hosted 21 Erasmus students of 10 different nationalities, who are currently doing their internships in the south of the island, coordinated by Tenerife Job Training.

The students learned about how they work in the protection of their environment. This was the first contact with cetaceans in their natural habitat for everyone. The most of them are tourism students who for the first time are experiencing, in a completely different way, touristic programs in a European destination.

It is essential to raise the awareness of host companies about the importance and impact of these programs at the educational and promotional level of our destination as a European benchmark for training. These programs encourage immersion in the local culture and awareness of the conservation of the natural environment.
