Bulwer’s petrel

Petrel de BulwerBulwer’s petrel

Bulweria bulwerii

In Spain it is only found in the Canary Islands, and of the islands, Tenerife is the one with the largest number of specimens, about 400 pairs. They spend most of their time fishing in the high seas (mainly plankton), and only come to land to nest. They breed under rocks and in crevices, and are nocturnal birds in the breeding areas. They make a sound similar to that of a small dog barking.
